The University Affair Meeting of NCHU approved the proposal for establishing the College of EECS.

The Graduate Institute of Information Network and Multimedia was merged with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

The Department of Computer Science has been renamed as Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

After being approved by the Ministry of Education, the Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering and Graduate Institute of Optoelectronic Engineering separated from the Department of Electrical Engineering and functioned independently.
The Ministry of Education approved the establishment of the Graduate Institute of Information Network and Multimedia. -
2002
Merging with the Computer Science Division in the Department of Applied Mathematics, the Institute of Computer Science became the Department of Computer Science with undergraduate, master′s, and PhD programs, and provided a complete cultivation program for computer science.

The Department of Electrical Engineering established the PhD program and expanded its undergraduate student program to become the largest department in NCHU.
